The Fairy Godkiller

The Fairy Godkiller, a full cast audio drama about an uptight princess grappling with ethics, power, and her own personal assassin, will debut on radio on April 13 at 5:30pm on PhillyCAM’s WPPM 106.5 FM.

The Fairy Godkiller will air on WPPM in three parts on April 13th, April 20th, and April 27th at 5:30.

The Fairy Godkiller is a dark satire of American fairy-tale media that makes light of the power structures these fairy-tales takes place around, and seeks to explore the nature of power, class, and political struggle. It stars Bella Sapphire as CJ, a socially awkward, high strung princess from a tiny kingdom in the seemingly peaceful continent of Minaret. She doesn't like thinking about her birthright or the responsibilities of her station, she likes reading romance novels and keeping her door shut. But the world has other plans, CJ will soon come of age, so her father gives her a special gift: her very own Fairy Godfather, played by Douglas Moore. One small issue, "Fairy Godfather" is a euphemism, for an assassin.

The Fairy Godkiller was produced over the span of two years by a team of volunteers. The project is a first from it’s writer and director, Brian McCann, who writes under the pen-name CCSYNAN. It is meant to serve as a pilot for a mini-series of audio dramas, which will continue the story of the pilot to a world-changing conclusion. In addition to radio, The Fairy Godkiller is available for streaming on Youtube.

Brian McCann is a long time Philadelphia resident and a graduate of Drexel University’s Film & Video production program. The Fairy Godkiller is his first major project as Writer and Director. The Fairy Godkiller was produced on a shoestring budget with the help of volunteer producer Raj Kalra. Voice actors for The Fairy Godkiller include professional voice talents Bella Saphire, Ryan Bogie, Jack Harlow, Vyn Vox, and veteran Shakespeare actor Douglas Moore. Post Production was handled by professional sound engineer, Ed Saltzman. Music was composed by professional score composer Elu Eboka.

In addition to being available for streaming on Youtube, and broadcasting on WPPM, The Fairy Godkiller is in the process for broadcast on WKDU 91.7 FM. Date to be announced.
