The Synth Pop Episode
On today’s show, we’re taking a break from our regular format to celebrate synth pop music from the 1980s and today. As the 1970s gave way to the 80s, a subgenre of British punk and new wave music, that favored synthesizers and drum machines, emerged as a force in mainstream music. The new breed created songs that fit well into radio playlists and the about to be unveiled MTV. We’re talking Depeche Mode, Human League, Howard Jones, Soft Cell and New Order. You get the idea.
